INQToday: New DA chief’s maiden mission: Tame soaring agri prices

President Bongbong Marcos orders the newly appointed Agriculture chief Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. to gain control of the rising agricultural prices.

Marcos handed the mantle of DA Secretary to Laurel after more than a year of holding the position himself.

Comelec announces that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections have officially concluded, adding that regional poll offices have already finished proclaiming the winning candidates who had tied in their vote counts.

The Commission on Elections says it will not file criminal cases against teachers who backed out of serving as poll workers on the day of the barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections.

“Ito po nililiwanag ko, wala po tayong planong magpakulong ng kahit isang guro; hindi po natin intensyon ‘yan,” said Comelec chair George Garcia in a press conference.

The Commission on Elections says it might place the third district of Negros Oriental under its control during the December 9 special election to fill the vacated seat of its expelled representative Arnolfo Teves Jr.

“We are studying the possibility of placing the entire [third] district of Negros Oriental under Comelec control, may pag-aaral pa po tayong ginagawa diyan – hopefully matapos by next week (we are already conducting a study on it which hopefully would finish by next week),” said Comelec chair George Garcia during a press conference Friday.

Authorities have found the senior citizen who went missing after visiting Manila North Cemetery on All Saints’ Day.

Robert Duquilla Sr. was hit by a vehicle and was brought to a hospital in Manila.
